Comparing the Effectiveness of Autobiographical Memory Specificity Training and Crisis Intervention Training on Ruminations among Betrayed Women with Depression Symptoms Yazd City in 2019

Abstract
Introduction: Infidelity is a growing traumatic factor causing various problems for the betrayed spouse in different societies. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of autobiographical memory specificity training (MEST) and Crisis intervention training on ruminations among betrayed women with depression symptoms.
Materials and Methods: The research method was quasi-experimental and pretest-posttest with a control group. The participants included 270 betrayed women admitted to Yazd Aramesh Counseling Center in 2019 who were selected using available sampling methods. 45 betrayed women with depression were randomly assigned into three groups. The measuring instrument was Rumination Questionnaire (Nolen-Hoeksema, 1991). The two experimental groups received six 60-minute sessions (1 session per week) of Autobiographical memory specificity training and Crisis intervention training, but the control group did not receive any training. For data analysis, χ2 and ANCOVA were applied, using  SPSS v24.
Results: X2 analysis showed that there was no significant difference between these three groups regarding the type of education and occupation (p>0.05). The results showed that the two interventions performed in the experimental groups had a significant effect on reducing mental rumination compared to the control group (p<0.05). In addition, the experimental group of Autobiographical memory had a greater and significant effect on reducing rumination compared with the group of Crisis intervention (p<0.024).
Conclusion: According to the obtained results and the negative impact of marital infidelity on abetrayed women, this treatment can be used to reduce rumination in betrayed women.
