The effectiveness of narrative therapy on perceived self-efficacy, vitality of single-parent Adolescents girls

Abstract
Introduction: Background and Aim: Parents' divorce causes problems in children's self-efficacy and reduces their quality of life. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of narrative therapy on the perceived self-efficacy and vitality of single-parent adolescents girls.
Materials and Methods:  This semi-experimental study was performed based on a pre-test and post-test with a control group. The study population consisted was formed by single-parent adolescents girls who lived with their mother and referred to Tabriz Private Counseling Center in 1402. The research was 30 people who were selected by purposive sampling method and were randomly divided into experimental and control groups of 15 people. The tools used in this study were the Self-Efficacy  Questionnaire developed by Sherer and colleagues, and the Desy and Ryan's Vitality Questionnaire.The experimental group received narrative therapy in once a week in eight 1.5-h sessions, but the control group did not receive any treatment. The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance.
Results: Mean and standard deviation of self-efficacy in the control group in the pre-test 56.67±7.59 and in the post-test 55.33±6.63, there was no significant difference (p<0.05) and for The experimental group was 54.93±7.58 in the pre-test, and 59.07±10.7 in the post-test, the difference was significant (p<0.001). The mean and standard deviation of vitality in the control group was 18.93±3.21 and 18.07±3.19, there was no significant difference (p<0.05) and for the experimental group in the pre-test and post-test. 18.67±3.57 and 22.67±3.13 respectively, the difference was significant (p<0.001).
Conclusion: According to the results of the research, it seems that narrative therapy can be effective in improving the vitality and perceived self-efficacy of single-parent Adolescents girls.
