The effectiveness of station designed sports on mental health of female teenagers

Abstract

  Background and objective: the mental health is the state of welfare feeling of coming to terms with society, situations and characteristics of personal and social is satisfactory.   The mental health promotion to lead to reduce of mental disorders.   For increase mental health has different methods as an example behavior methods (sport)has application. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of designed sport on mental health of adolescent girls.   Materials and Methods: This semi-experimental study was conducted as a post-test and pre-test by control groups. Statistical population included adolescent girls of Rafsanjan city in May 2011.The sampling method was as random so after random choice of two groups , among girls who , 44 girls who acquired the highest score by the QuestionnairesSCL-90 , selected as final sample and randomly separated into two equal groups. Data gathered by Questionnaires. The girls of interventional group took part in 45-minutes training program twice in week for one month. Post–test scores recorded and data analyzed by co-variance test using SPSS software.   Results: The pre-test data showed anxity, depression, aggression, singular sensitivity, bodily complain scores had no significant difference but after training the interventional group the scores significantly decreased ( p< 0.05).   Conclusion: The results of this study showed that designed Sport can improve mental health and decreasanxity, depression, aggression, bodily complain, singular sensitivity in the girls.
