Relationship between religious attitudes and prayer of patients in medical and surgical in Hospital of AliIbn AbiTaleb, Rafsanjan, 2012

Abstract

  Background and Objective: Prayer is one of the largest Islamic practices and it is the best task in Islam. In the disease status that humans need to feel safe, supported and hope. What is the patient's religious view affect his prayers. Is there relationship between religious attitudes and pray in disease status.   Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study on 360 patients were admitted. Data collection was done by checklist and a questionnaire. Checklist was included: demographic information and standard questionnaire was about prayer and a religious attitude. Quota sampling was convenient. Patients participating in this study were completely alert and able to pray. Data analysis using SPSS software under Windows and X2, Mann-Whitney., t test and ANOVA.   Results: Patients with a religious attitude was so great that 80% of subjects and 18.3% of religious attitudes were good attitude.   The comparison of the mean scores of religious attitude with pray in disease status such as , those who know the obligatory prayer during illness have higher mean scores [79.8 ± 8.1] than those who did not obligatory prayer during illness [74.9 ±12.4] these differences were statistically significant . Women had higher average scores . Participants in this study expressed the effective prayers of healing .   Conclusions: In this study, patients had high religious attitude. Lack of knowledge about obligatory prayer in disease. Then Religious education and spiritual is needs for patients in medical and surgical wards
