Evaluation of the general health status and its related factors in medical staffs of Borujen Valyasr Hospital

Abstract

Background and Objective: Tension and Stress due to medicine-related jobs may have detrimental effects on medical staff and also on the quality of services provided by them. This study aimed to investigate the status of general health and its related factors in medical staff of Borujen Valyasr Hospital in 2012.
Materials & Methods: In this descriptive-correlational study, 133 of medical staff were included using census method. The data gathering tool was a two-part questionnaire composed of demographic data and general health questionnaire (GHQ). Data was analyzed by SPSS/16 and also by descriptive and analytical tests.
Results: The mean score of the GHQ was 28/2±11/93 and using a cutoff point of 23 tests, 59/8 % were suspicious to medical disorders and 40/2% were asymptomatic. There was a significant difference between marital status, education level, and gender with general health.
Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that occupational rankings according to their characteristics can affect person's health. It is therefore recommended that health policy makers and planners pay more attention to social and professional factors influencing public health.
