Abstract

Introduction: Recent experiences in relation to natural disasters, violence, terrorist attacks and the threat of pandemic diseases including influenza show that schools should have strategies for dealing with crises, accidents and disasters. The aim of this study was to determine the schools plans to dealing with the risks of these unwanted events in Rafsanjan.
Materials and Methods: In this cross- sectional study, 153 schools plans were included for dealing with accidents and disasters in Rafsanjan in 2013. The data gathering instrument in this study was a questionnaire designed by the researcher (Features schools, equipment and facilities in schools). Researchers attended in the schools and the questionnaires were completed with the help of schools’ managers.  Data were analyzed using independent t test and One-way ANOVA.
Results: The findings indacated that the mean and standard deviation of equipment and basic facilities of the schools were 11/10±9/71. ANOVA test showed a significant difference between level of education and equipment and basic facilities (p=0/034). Also, there was a significant and direct association between the values of equipment and basic facilities and the existence of school health
services . (p=0/001).
Conclusion: Due to the lack of accessibility of schools to advanced equipments and facilities, the results of this study may provide useful information for authorities and decision makers to improve the safety standards of the schools.
