The Effectiveness of Cognitive-Bbehavioral Therapy on Infertility Stress and Health-Promoting Behaviors of Infertile Women

Abstract
Introduction: Infertility can lead to a psychological crisis in people with the disease and using effective interventions can reduce the severity of psychological damage in these people.
Method: The present study was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population included infertile women admitted to Najmieh Infertility Treatment Center, from which 30 infertile women were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. Experimental group participants underwent cognitive-behavioral intervention (eight 90-minutes training sessions). A Health Promoting Life Style and a Fertility Problem Inventory were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed by repeated measures ANOVA.
Results: Cognitive-behavioral therapy reduced the scores of the experimental group in the post-test compared to the pre-test in infertility stress and increased the scores of health-promoting behaviors (p<0/0001).
Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, in infertile people, in addition to common therapies, cognitive-behavioral therapy interventions can be used to reduce stress and improve effective health-promoting behaviors.
