Introduction: Couple burnout and marital infidelity indicate damage to a couple's emotional relationship. Reality therapy is a technique that can help couples in this regard emphasizing mental health. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Glaser reality therapy on couple burnout and marital infidelity of the couples admitted to counseling centers in Rafsanjan.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental, pretest, posttest with a control group. The statistical population of this study included 200 couples admitted to family counseling centers in Rafsanjan from September 23, 2018, to March 20, 2019. Using the convenience sampling method, 40 people were selected and randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group participated in eight ninety-minute sessions of Glaser Reality Therapy training but the experimental group was not exposed to any intervention. Mark and Atley (2006) and Pain (1996) Marital Infidelity Questionnaires were administered before and after training. Data were analyzed using the analysis of covariance.
Results: The results showed that Glacier reality therapy training reduced marital disgust and marital infidelity (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Reality education intervention affects cognitive, social, behavioral, emotional, and sexual aspects and causes intimacy in couples' relationships.
