English

Introduction: Considering that the of love trauma symptoms can bring a series of psychological harms, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of cognitive emotion regulation training on reducing the symptoms of psychological trauma in female students suffering from love trauma..
Materials and Methods: The research method was experimental with pre-test-post-test, and with the control group. The statistical population consisted of all female undergraduate students with love trauma residing in the dormitory of Mohaghegh Ardabili University in the academic year 2018-2019 (Approximately 60 individuals) that purposive sampling method was used to select a sample of 34 participants (17 participants in each group). Also, to determine the target sample of the Love Trauma Syndrome Inventory (LTSI-10), to implement the intervention of the cognitive emotion regulation program based on the Gross model, and to measure the dependent variable from the Symptoms Check-List (SCL-90-R). Data analysis was conducted using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA).
Results: The effect of group membership indicates a significant impact of the intervention on the total index of psychological harm symptoms (p<0.01) and its components: obsessive-compulsive (p<0.01), sensitivity in interpersonal relationships (p<0.01), hostility (p<0.01), phobia (p<0.05), and psychosis (p<0.05). However, this intervention had no significant effect on somatization, depression, anxiety and paranoia (p>0.05).
Conclusion: The implementation of cognitive regulation of emotions based on the Gross model in a group of individuals with love trauma syndrome can lead to a more rapid improvement in those who are more traumatized individuals.
