Background and Objective: In today's world, MS (marital satisfaction) is diminishing. However,people attitudes to life, and communications, can increase satisfaction. This study was aimed toevaluate relation of EQ (emotional intelligence) and MS in the academic staff of Rafsanjan Universityof Medical sciences.Materials and Method: Research population included all faculty members in rafsanjan university ofmedical sciences, which 122 subjects completed Bar-On and Enrich questionnaires and data wereanalyzed with Pearson's and Spearman correlation coefficients and T test.Results: MS in this study was 68% and the average score of EQ 337. Overall, EQ and MS were notassociated with sex and age. Among the different dimensions MS, relationship between interpersonalrelations and empathy with the gender was statistically significant. Among the various dimensions ofEQ, only the responsibility had a significant relationship with gender. Total score of EQ and MS, werenot significantly correlated with sex. All components of EQ and MS had a significant relationship witheach other. 37% of marital satisfaction could be predicted by emotional intelligence.Conclusion: Due to the high relationship between EQ and MS, these findings recommended thatresponsible organizations for national education required to training more skills to increase EQ untilimprove marital relationships and more strength to the family.
